Oud, auch bekannt als Agarholz, Adlerholz, Paradiesholz oder Rosenholz, ist ein besonders kostbares Material, das aus dem Aquilaria-Baum gewonnen wird. Dieses außergewöhnliche Holz stammt aus Regionen wie Südostasien, Indochina, Indien und Bangladesch. Durch die Infektion des Baumes mit einem speziellen Pilz entsteht ein duftendes Ölharz, das anschließend destilliert wird. Die Intensität und Qualität des gewonnenen Öls steigen mit der Anzahl der Pilz- und Harzinfektionen, was es zu einem weltweit geschätzten Produkt macht.
